Configuring Telnet for Netscape
Communicator/Navigator 4.0 and Windows 95/NT
Start Netscape Navigator 4.0.
Click on the menu item Edit, and then Preferences.
Select Applications. (This is listed under Navigator;
you may need to click on the "+" so that it becomes a "-".)
Scroll down until you locate URL:Telnet Protocol.
Click on it once to highlight it. The File type details box will tell you which
Telnet program is currently being used.
To change the Telnet program, highlight URL:Telnet
Protocol and click on the Edit button.
- The next screen will show you the current path for the current
Telnet program.
- If you wish to change this, click on the browse button. Move
to the directory which contains the telnet program you wish to use. Highlight the
application and click Open.
If you cannot find URL:Telnet Protocol in the list,
click on the New Type button.
- In the Description of type box type: URL:Telnet
Protocol.
- Next, click in the Application to use box, so that you
see the flashing cursor. Click on the Browse button.
- Change the directory to C:\Windows.
- Scroll through the directory list until you locate Telnet.
Click once on Telnet to highlight it.
- Click on the Open button. The path for the Telnet
application should now appear in the "Telnet Application" box. Click on the OK
button.
